Inkscape is the best in my opinion and probably always will be.Inkscape is a source vector graphics software that took nearly half a decade to create. So if you want a FREE, extremely powerful SVG graphics editor, you need look no further. It is a learning curve to be able to use it but well worth the effort after you do. Believe me, the "what you can do list" is far too numerous to type here, you simply have to read some tutorials and try it. png with Inkscape, has 3-d box creation among MANY MANY other options and effects, even text. I believe Photoshop has this ability but I don't use it, can't afford it so Inkscape is part of my main graphics collection of Blender, Gimp and Inkscape, pretty much accomplish anything that needs to be done and all free. Scalable vector graphics (SVG) yes, it's a scalable image or (XML)file format.
